We use bridges and dental implants at our Bridgeton, NJ dental office to replace missing teeth. Both restore your appearance and give you back some function after tooth loss. But they go about it in different ways.
- A dental bridge is a prosthetic device that places an artificial tooth (pontic) in the open space. The pontic is held in place by dental crowns that our dentists attach to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap in your smile.
- A dental implant replaces an entire missing tooth, including the root. A tiny post is placed surgically in your jaw and supports the dental crown we attach to it. For this reason, we don’t need to involve any healthy teeth for support as we do with a bridge.
Both are excellent options that work well for patients in Bridgeton, NJ who want to replace missing teeth. If you’re in a hurry or aren’t ready to commit to a dental implant, a bridge is an excellent choice. But if adjacent teeth aren’t healthy enough to support dental crowns, or you’d like a long-term solution to missing teeth, our dentists would recommend a dental implant.
At Boss Dentistry, we also offer full and partial dentures as well as implant dentures. Having options to choose from lets Dr. Boss and Dr. Virunurm personalize your tooth replacement to fit your needs.
